IIMS 2009

On 25 Juli – 2 Agustus 2009, the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia, also known as “Gaikindo”) will once again hold their annual Indonesia International Motor Show, which will take place in Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

As always, the biggest Automotives show in Indonesia will present various cars and motorcycles with competing brands in the present market such as Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Suzuki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Proton, Ford, Ferrari, Lamborghini and even Hummer. Even though some are for display purposes only, others may be purchased. Same applies to motorcycles, with brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Minerva, Kawasaki, Bajaj and Harley Davidson.

Issues regarding the environment and in the country’s position amongst economical deflation due to global monetary crisis didn’t dampen Johnny Darmawan’s spirits as the head organizer of the IIMS to keep the show as a way of having the Indonesian Automotive Industry be one of the cornerstones of creative economic growth.

The IIMS 2009 chose “Drive for a Better Life” as this year’s theme, as it hopes that automotive lovers in the country will care more about the quality of our environment from the production process to the usage of motor vehicles to create a better way of life like Honda’s “Green Vactory” which aims to raise awareness towards environmental protection for the future. There is also an environmentally friendly factory with an integrated waste disposal system.

In addition to the exhibition, there are also other programmes that contribute to the show. Amongst them: the Indonesian International Automotive conference, journalism contest, Miss Motorshow 2009, Test drive, drifting & slalom contest, BMX freestyler show & contest, and music concerts from charttopping musical guests that lights up the program.

The most interesting part of the IIMS is the test drive arena for cars from Mitsubishi and Motor Megelli from Minerva, Indonesia with the newest designs and attracting the underclass market with its economic price. When tested, this 250cc machine powered motorcycle sped off immediately like that of a middleclassed cc type motorcycle, without the characteristic sounds of the usually loud motorcycles and a comfortable helm compatible to its series variant, the Moto GP-like super bike.

Folders interested in purchasing highly innovated motorcycles but are concerned with breaking the bank, this Megelli 250 with the England Megelli design and German Sach machine is the right one for you.
